Suggestions?

This one is tricky because it's sort of a top secret quilt.  I'm hoping for some advice though!

I can't decide what kind of fabric to use for the binding!

(I'm also not sure how I'm going to quilt it, other than minimally.  I'm considering doing a quilting/tying combo, but I digress.)

There are the pictures.  For the quilt top, I've used some pale 30s type prints (pinks, orange, yellow, blues, purple) and white for the lattice part.  For the backing I have this dark blue fabric.

So what do you think?!  I want a binding that won't draw attention to itself.
Should I add to the mix a solid?  Some shade of blue perhaps? Some other color?
Should I string together some of the quilt top's 30s prints for a scrappy binding?
Maybe I should pick one top fabrics and bind the whole thing in that.
Something else?

I was excited about the backing fabric, but now I'm afraid to admit that maybe I just have too much going on and should abandon it.  Go with a plain solid backing instead?  That might make a binding choice easier?

 ...ugh
      ...what are your thoughts?

On an unrelated note, these fabrics might just be next on the docket.  Not exactly sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but I'm thinking it might just have to be wavy.

Have a great day...

  1. I would vote for a scrappy binding using some of the prints from the front of the quilt, I think that it will blend in well.

  3. Scrappy binding definitely. It will make your gorgeous quilt sing a blended and happy tune!

  4. How about something grey for the binding - perhaps with polka dots? Looks like a scrappy binding is a popular choice though! Love that stack of bright solids and the black and white print you showed. Can't wait to see what you do with those!

  6. I love you choice of fabrics for the top. I would also either do the scrappy binding or pick a single fabric from the ones on the top. The backing fabric is a really bold choice - because it seems so different from the top it really gives you two distinct quilts. Can't wait to see it finished.
